The Prep Course

If you feel you are approaching a crossroad in you studies, and in need of guidance when it comes to what courses to take? Then you should apply for the Prep Course! Besides above mentioned, you will be able to access insider information, such as what to focus on when applying for a certain job and how to academically profile yourself to maximize you attraction on the labor market. Each spring the career committee organizes The Prep Course in order to give students a unique opportunity to acquire useful insights and knowledge related to international workplaces. The course itself is organized as a series of interactive evening seminars where we have invited representatives from institutions and organizations of interest to our members, such as the EU, UN and the government offices. The meetings which make up the course are of a relaxed character to facilitate interaction between lecturer and the students, who are encouraged to ask questions and participate in discussions. Apart from the arrangements of the career committee, the course also function as a platform for students to meet like-minded, as well as the opportunity to network.

To apply, please send us a summary of who you are, what you are interested in and why you feel that you should be selected for the program. The summaryshould be no longer than a page, as excess pages will be disregarded, and send to career@upflund.se no later than the 20th of march marked “Ansökan”. Please not that as of now the Prep course is only open for Swedish students.

The Mentorship Program

Every year the Career Committee hosts the Mentorship Program. During an academic year, exclusively selected UPF members get the opportunity to be assigned a mentor affiliated with the Swedish Foreign Service. The program is offered in cooperation with the Diplomatic Club in Lund (Diplomatiska Klubben), an alumni association that organises former students at Lund University that today have or previously have had a career within the Swedish Foreign Service. This gives us the possibility to offer mentors with a broad spectrum of experiences from international affairs. Furthermore, it is the ambition of the Career Committee that each student admitted to the programme will get a trip to his or her mentor facilitated, irrespective of where the mentor is located in the world. Note that as of now, the program is only available to Swedish students. For further information, please take a look at testimonials (Swedish and English) from previous adepts.
