Schyman kommer nu till UPF för att prata om kvinnors situation lokalt, regionalt och globalt. Under föreläsningen ger hon en feministisk analys över maktstrukturer och vilka uttryck de tar sig i en patriarkal värld.

Föreläsningen kommer att hållas den 28:e februari kl. 19 i Universitetsaulan.

Stina Lundberg Dabrowski är en av Sveriges mest kända journalister. Genom åren har hon intervjuat alla från David Bowie till Michail Gorbatjov. I slutet har hon alltid fått sina intervjuobjekt att hoppa, någonting som har blivit hennes signum (trots att Thatcher och Madonna avböjde).

Nu kommer hon till UPF för att berätta sanningen bakom sina möten med världens ledande kvinnor och män. Hur var dem? Hur lyckas man bäst med ett genomföra en intervju och framförallt - vad kan man lära sig av sina misstag? Genom föredraget kommer Stina att visa både bilder och filmer från sina möten med några av världens största profiler.

UPF in cooperation with "Students for Sustainability" (also known as Hållbart Universitet) will show the Academy award nominated movie "Sun Come Up" by Jennifer Redfearn. There will be a movie screening and discussion about the growing concern of climate refugees in the world.

Sun Come Up is an Academy Award® nominated film that shows the human face of climate change. The film follows the relocation of the Carteret Islanders, a community living on a remote island chain in the South Pacific Ocean, and now, some of the world’s first environmental refugees.

When climate change threatens their survival, the islanders face a painful decision. They must leave their ancestral land in search of a new place to call home. Sun Come Up follows a group of young islanders as they search for land and build relationships in war-torn Bougainville, 50 miles across the open ocean.

Sun Come Up provokes discussion about climate change, displacement, and the rights of vulnerable communities around the globe.

Härmed utlyses 3 platser till Utrikespolitiska föreningens i Lunds valberedning, med uppdrag uppdrag att ta in nomineringar och ansökningar till styrelse, revisorer och valberedning för verksamhetsåret 2012/2013 samt genomföra intervjuer och presentera ett förslag till föreningens valårsmöte som kommer att hållas i slutet av april eller början av maj.

Vi söker därför 3 personer med olika erfarenhet och bakgrund som är villiga att genomföra detta viktiga arbete, och har tid att slutet på mars och i april lägga ner ett par dagar på intervjuer med kandidater och interna överläggningar för att slutligen presentera ett förslag. Om du tror att du är rätt person för detta uppdrag ber vi dig att lämna in ansökan innehållande CV och personligt brev på max 1 A4 där du motiverar varför du är lämplig för detta uppdrag. In cooperation with Peace and Conflict Studies at Lunds University we will have a movie screening and a panel discussion about the movie “Grandma’s Tattoos”.

Grandma was not like any old gran...ny. She was weird. Nobody liked her. She avoided physical contact. She never hugged, or wanted to be hugged. She never kissed, she never smiled. Her blue tattoos on her face and hands were appalling. The children were scared of her.

What was wrong with grandma? Why did she have these tattoos? Who tattooed her? Yet these were the wrong questions to ask. The family refused to speak about the “unspeakable”.

Filmmaker Suzanne Khardalian makes a journey into her own family to investigate the story behind her grandma Khanoum’s odd tattoos. A story about a brutal past, about war, sexual violence and slavery. A journey in search for the truth. A story never told before.
A documentary about the fate of the women during the Armenian Genocide.

She worked at the Economist Intelligence Unit as a Middle East specialist, but left the EIU to research Arab media for a PhD and as a consultant to international organisations, including Article 19 and Amnesty International.... Ms. Sakr is currently a Reader in Communication in the School of Media, Arts and Design at the University of Westminster.

Our last lecture in the series concerning the Arab Spring will focus on the future. Where is Arab public service heading in a world filled with democratic rants and bloggers that won't step down?
Terrestrial broadcasting in Arab countries has been monopolised by governments for so many decades that it has become very challenging for Arab citizens to see a distinction between ‘public sector’ and ‘public service or between media that are state-owned and those that are government-run.
Will the protests in the Middle East change the media in a more open way, or will it close down all together?

One year ago she was in the middle of a revolution and she will now visit UPF and Lund.

Her lecture will focus on how the revolution spread through social media, how the future of Egypt might look like and of the importance of the uprising has for relations between the West and the Islamic world.
Throughout the lecture, she will show her own movies and pictures from the Tahir square. A true inside view.

UPFs series of lectures concerning the Arab Spring continues with Cecilia Uddén: MiddleEast Correspondent of Swedish Broadcasting and awarded with Stora Journalistpriset ("Great Journalist Award") in 2011.

She arrived in Cairo last year on Jan 24, because some of her blo...gger friends said: "maybe you should be here, it could be another one of those tiny protests with a couple of hundred people, but it could also be the big one…" It was the big one.


Where is Egypt heading? What kinds of clashes are in the making? How committed with the islamists in power be to freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech?
And will the generals in the military council, SCAF, actually step down?
