Johanna Mannergren från Utrikespolitiska institutet kommer att tala på temat ''Kvinnor, makt och fredsprocesser''.

Kvinnor deltar ofta i viktigt fredsarbete på lokal nivå i samhällen som har drabbats av krig. Men samtidigt utestängs de systematiskt från formella fredsprocesser. Kvinna till Kvinnas unika rapport Equal Power, Lasting Peace. Obstacles to Women’s Participation in Peace Processes kartlägger de hinder som som kvinnliga fredsaktivister i Armenien, Azerbaijan, Bosnien-Hercegovina, DR Kongo, Irak och Liberia kämpar mot. Johanna Mannergren Selimovic, forskare vid UI och en av författarna till rapporten, berättar om kvinnornas kamp för att ta del av den formella makten, och diskuterar varför det är så viktigt att bygga en jämställd fred.

Ingmar Karlsson Lecture :

Nawal El Saadawi - 80 years old egyptian pshychiatrist, activist and author

Nawal El Saadawis novels and books on the situation of women have had a deep effect on successive generations of young women and men over the last five decades in the Middle East.

As a result of her literary and scientific writings she has had to face numerous difficulties and even dangers in her life. In 1972, she lost her job in the Egyptian Ministry of Health because of her book “Women and Sex” published in Arabic in Cairo (1969). She was banned by the political and religious authorities, since she -in some chapters of the book- wrote against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and linked sexual problems to political and economic oppression.

The lecture is a collaboration with CMES (Center for Middle Eastern Studies).

Katrine Kielos - ledarskribent på Aftonbladet

talar om "Marknaden är en man".

Förra året gav Kielos ut boken ''Det enda könet'' som är en kritisk uppgörelse med den rådande ekonomiska världsbilden. I boken tar hon sig an en av vår tids största globala frågor, nämligen förtrycket av kvinnor och vad som kan göras för att lösa det. Kielos har bl.a. varit verksam som vikarierande chefredaktör för Dagens Arena och frilansskribent verksam på Expressens. År 2013 fick Katrine Dagens Nyheters kritikerpris Lagercrantzen.

Pickwick: Aid and NGOs

Pickwick is finally back again with a new and interesting topic! Join us Thursday 25th for a discussion on ‘aid and NGOs’. When you hear the word ‘aid’, the first thing that comes to your mind may be the financial type. It can be argued that this type of aid is vital to exterminate world poverty and inequality, among other things. With that being said, NGOs over the world have received criticism for the fact that the money does not always reach the intended destination.

Is it impossible to avoid that some of the aid goes to bribes and other kinds of corruptions? Could NGOs lose their reliance because of this fact or do they simply stay without a choice? Are other kinds of aid than the financial type more preferable? Come and share your thoughts on these questions with us!

Pieter Feith - dutch diplomat and former Civilian Operations Commander for all civilian ESDP Crisis Management Operations in EU on the topic:

Kosovo- State Building and Exit

Feith will speak about the work he did from 2008 to 2012 as the International Civilian Representative for Kosovo. In this assignment he had wide ranging authority based on the Ahtisaari Settlement to oversee and assist Kosovo’s independence as a modern, multi-ethnic democracy with an open market economy.

Den 18 april klockan 16.00 håller Utrikespolitiska föreningen i Lund valårsmöte där en ny styrelse för verksamhetsåret 2013/2014 skall väljas. Alla fullvärdiga medlemmar som tecknat sitt medlemskap före den 4 april 2013 äger rösträtt vid mötet. Röstning med fullmakt är ej tillåtet. Valberedningen kommer att presentera sitt förslag genom www.upflund.se innan mötet. Alla medlemmar har möjlighet att kandidera under mötet.

Ärende må ej bli föremål för beslut i sak utan att vara upptaget på valårsmötets

föredragningslista. Motioner skall skriftligen inlämnas till president@upflund.se senast sju dagar före valårsmötet.

On the 18th of April 2013 at 16.00 the Association of Foreign Affairs holds its annual election meeting, on which a new board for the academic year of 2013/2014 will be elected. All members who have registered for membership before the 4th of April will have the right to vote. Voting through power of attorney is not allowed. The Election Committee will present their proposal for a new board on www.upflund.se before the meeting. All members of the Association have the opportunity to stand for election on the meeting.

An issue not addressed in the meeting agenda cannot be subject to decision. Motions for the Annual Election Meeting shall be submitted in written form to president@upflund.se at least seven days prior to the meeting.
