ABOUT UPF
Utrikespolitiska Föreningen (UPF) in Lund is a non-profit, politically and religiously independent organisation for the students of Lund University, arranging a wide array of activities for its members directed at initiating debate on current foreign affairs and global political issues. The Association was established in 1935 and continues to grow every year attracting increasing numbers of Swedish and international students. UPF is a member of the Swedish Association of International Affairs (Utrikespolitiska Förbundet Sverige).
We organise weekly lectures at Café Athen, usually at 19:30 on Wednesdays and occasional additional lectures during the week, with speakers from all over the world discussing a broad range of current foreign affairs issues. The lectures are organised by the Lecture Committee who invite speakers to Lund, so if you would like to invite a speaker of your choice to visit Lund and present a lecture, come join us on the Lecture Committee! The Association also has three media committees where you can learn anything from radio production and broadcasting to online and paper magazine design and editing. We also offer experience in PR, management and web maintenance.
We provide a wide range of student activities in which you are welcome participate. Every Wednesday, we broadcast award-winning radio at Radio UPF 99.1 MHz. We publish four issues of our magazine Utrikesperspektiv every year and a weekly webzine updated with three articles per week. Over the course of the year we also arrange a Prep Course for aspiring diplomats and every year we provide 10-15 students with the opportunity to be assigned to a diplomat mentor, at least two journeys per year and of course parties. We also arrange a fortnightly Debate Club!
We hope that you will enjoy UPF as much as we do!
