Upcoming Lectures
Entrance to lectures is free for members, and costs 30 kronor for non-members. Non-members can easily become members at the entrance. The venue for our weekly wednesday night lectures is Café Athen in the AF building, lectures starting at 19.00 (sharp). Lectures on odd days are frequently presented at other venues and at other hours.

March 17: Jan Thesleff, Sveriges ambassadör till Saudiarabien
“Arabiska halvön – fördomar och förändring”
Jan Thesleff, född och uppvuxen i Lund, är sedan 2006 Sveriges ambassadör i Saudiarabien, Jemen, Oman och Kuwait. Alltsedan studier i Lund och en mellanlandning i näringslivet, anställd vid UD med utlandsposter i Damaskus, Tokyo, Kairo och Bryssel. Innan tillträdet i Riyadh, utlånad till EU:s ministerråd och det särskilde sändebudet för fredsprocessen i Mellanöstern.
För många av oss är arabiska halvön en plats där kvinnor lever i stark underordning och samhället tycks stannat i konservativ status quo. Med ett inifrån perspektiv kommer Ambassadör Thesleff att delge oss sina personliga reflektioner kring samhällsutvecklingen och de förändringar som bubblar under ytan.

How does European integration affect human rights issues in Serbia? What difference does the recent removal of visa for travelling to Schengen countries make? Which role do the wars in the nineties play in today’s Serbia? What does the face of the new generation look like?
Christina Wassholm, freelance journalist and author of the book “Vi är Serbiens hjarta – Ett reportage om party, panik och politk” lives in Belgrade since 2004. She has a special focus on civil society and human rights issues.
