The Debate Club

The Debate Club of UPF Lund is one of the youngest committees in the organization, founded in the spring of 2009 and is at the moment, surprisingly enough, the only student debate club in Lund.
The idéa of the debate club is not only to focus on foreign policy, but also to raise the importance of debate in the society. Tolerance and understanding of the different points of view of people is worth a great deal in this world and we find that debating for the opposite standpoint is very valuable on expounding on one’s views.
Our main purpose right now is to provide a forum that is relaxed, friendly and entertaining, where everybody can join in and feel at ease by debating in front of each other. We believe it is important to start with the basics and then and new levels as we go and therefore we mix simple debates with exercises and a few prepared debates. The aim of the debate club is provide further knowledge about rhetorics, how to argue and persuade most efficiently.
We do not demand any specific knowledge or experience, we only ask of an open mind.
